The chief nurse ensures the rational organization of the work of secondary and junior medical personnel, provides general guidance of their work, organizes and monitors the fulfillment of medical appointments, the development of job responsibilities, accounting, discharge, distribution and storage of medicines (including poisonous, psychotropic and narcotic drugs). She draws up and monitors work schedules, ensures compliance with the treatment and protective regime, infection control and discipline, introduces new methods of nursing with staff training, monitors the sanitary and hygienic condition of departments, the quality of disinfection and the maintenance of medical records. It also develops professional development plans, evaluates the professional activities of nurses, makes proposals to improve the quality of medical care and work organization, ensures reporting and compliance with medical ethics, internal regulations, fire safety, occupational safety and health and epidemiological regime.
