Representatives of the Scientific Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation participated in the annual congress of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress 2026, which took place on September 5-9, 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. The event was held in face-to-face and online format.
Kanat Tekebayev, Deputy Director for Organizational and Methodological Work, and Madina Baurzhan, Head of the Scientific Research Department, participated in the congress as part of the Scientific Research Institute's delegation.
The ERS Congress is one of the leading international events in the field of respiratory medicine and science. The Congress brings together specialists involved in clinical practice, scientific research, education and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory diseases.
The event featured modern scientific developments, the results of clinical research and current approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of diseases of the respiratory system.
Separate areas of the scientific program were devoted to pulmonological rehabilitation, chronic lung diseases, respiratory medicine, intensive care, sleep breathing disorders, telemedicine, new diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as modern approaches to patient recovery. New methods of physical activity and rehabilitation for chronic lung diseases, the development of pulmonary rehabilitation beyond COPD, and interprofessional interaction in the recovery process of patients were also considered among the priority topics.
The participation of the Institute's specialists in the international congress was an opportunity to get acquainted with the world's best practices in the field of respiratory medicine and rehabilitation, exchange professional experience with foreign colleagues and expand international scientific contacts.
