September 5 is the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan — a holiday that symbolizes the linguistic and cultural diversity of our country, as well as respect for the native language and traditions of all ethnic groups.

The date of the holiday is linked to the birthday of the outstanding Kazakh educator, scholar, and founder of Kazakh linguistics, Akhmet Baitursynuly. Since 2017, the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan has been celebrated on September 5.

Language is not only a means of communication but also an important part of a people’s history, culture, and spiritual heritage. Preserving one’s native language, respecting the languages of other ethnic groups, and striving to learn new languages contribute to strengthening mutual understanding, friendship, and unity.
