The XI International Scientific and Practical Forum Shipazhay-2026 brought together leading experts in the field of balneology and medical rehabilitation
On August 7, 2026, the XI International Scientific and Practical Forum Shipazhai-2026, one of the key international professional events in the field of balneology, sanatorium treatment, medical rehabilitation and wellness tourism, was held in Almaty at the site of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova took part in the Forum.
The Shipazhai Forum has traditionally been an authoritative professional platform for consolidating the scientific, medical and practical community, developing new approaches to the development of the sanatorium industry, discussing modern scientific achievements and determining prospects for further integration of balneology and medical rehabilitation into the healthcare system.
The event was organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the National Resort Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the Association for the Development of Resorts "Sankur-evolution" (Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation) with the support of the National Academy of Sciences under the President Of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The business program of the Forum included an international scientific and practical conference "Modern technologies and innovative approaches in the field of balneology and restorative treatment", a seminar "Medical digital solutions for public health and the development of the sanatorium industry", a master class "Traditional and complementary methods in modern sanatorium rehabilitation: scientific approaches and practical experience", as well as a specialized international exhibition of sanatorium-resort organizations, manufacturers of medical equipment and pharmaceutical products, developers of digital solutions and innovative technologies in healthcare.
The Forum was attended by representatives of government agencies, leading scientific and medical organizations, the sanatorium industry, professional associations, the expert community, as well as international experts from Kazakhstan, China, Singapore, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, European countries and the USA.
Welcoming the participants of the Forum, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova emphasized the increasing role of sanatorium-resort rehabilitation in the modern healthcare system and the development of medical tourism.
"Sanatorium-resort wellness is transforming medical tourism today, combining classical treatment with high-tech medicine, personalized Check-up programs, modern diagnostic methods and digital solutions. The integration of advanced methods of rehabilitation, balneology and spa services contributes to improving the quality of restorative medicine and the formation of new international standards of care," the Minister stressed.
During the plenary and breakout sessions, participants discussed current scientific developments, prospects for the digital transformation of the industry, the introduction of innovative technologies in medical rehabilitation, the development of sanatorium treatment, issues of training qualified personnel, as well as the expansion of international scientific and professional cooperation.
The creation of the Spa Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan gave special importance to the Forum. This decision is fixed in the Resolution of the XI International Scientific and Practical Forum Shipazhay-2026.
The Resort Council will become a professional platform bringing together representatives of government agencies, the scientific community and practical healthcare to develop systematic proposals for improving public policy, developing the scientific base, introducing modern approaches and ensuring the sustainable development of the sanatorium industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For the first time in the history of Kazakhstan's balneology, within the framework of the Forum, a solemn awarding ceremony was held for representatives of the sanatorium and resort industry by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For many years of conscientious work, professionalism and significant contribution to the development of the healthcare system, industry specialists were awarded "Enbek Ardageri" medals, "Densaulyk salasyna koskan ulesi ushin" badges, "Kurmet" diplomas, and representatives of international organizations received letters of appreciation.
The award was an important recognition of the contribution of sanatorium-resort specialists to the development of the national healthcare system, medical rehabilitation and restorative medicine, and also emphasized the importance of the professional work of industry specialists.
On August 8, the delegates of the forum made study visits to the branch of JSC "Medical and wellness complex "Okzhetpes" (sanatorium "Almaty Resort") and the Children's Clinical Sanatorium "Alatau". The participants studied the infrastructure of the complexes and the list of medical procedures provided.
The XI International Scientific and Practical Forum Shipazhay-2026 confirmed Kazakhstan's status as an active participant in the international professional and scientific dialogue in the field of balneology and medical rehabilitation.
