Official Opening of the City Health and Wellness Complex

For the first time in the history of the capital of Kazakhstan, the official opening of the second branch of the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Astana Health and Wellness Complex, took place in Astana on June 1, 2026.

The new complex became the first modern city sanatorium of this scale in the history of the capital, combining spa treatment, medical rehabilitation, preventative health care, and comfortable relaxation within an urban infrastructure.

Representatives of government agencies, the medical community, public organizations, the tourism industry, and the diplomatic corps participated in the opening ceremony.

Welcoming remarks to the participants and guests of the opening ceremony were addressed by Nadezhda Petukhova, Chair of the Public Council of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Magripa Yembergenova, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Gulnara Sarsenbayeva, Director of the Department of Medical Care Organization of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Yermek Yasylov, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Berik Aryn, Kazakh statesman, diplomat, and Director General of the Institute of Organisation of Health and Safety of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Abylkakim Akmurzin, Honorary Citizen of Kazakhstan; Sayat Kusainov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Astana Tourism Tourism Development Center of the Astana City Akimat; Hoti Lal, First Secretary of the Embassy of India in the Republic of Kazakhstan; Shynarbek Batyrkhanov, President of the Association of Tourism and Leisure Industry of the Akmola Region and Honorary Worker of Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Beisenbek Doszhanov, Director of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan and Head of JSC Shchuchinsky Sanatorium; and other guests.

Honored guests included Kazakhstani government officials and diplomats Berik Aryn and Yerlan Alimbayev, members of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurgul Tau, Vera Kim, and Unzila Shapak, members of the Institute's Supervisory Board Bakhytzhan Aryn and Yerkebulan Burkitbayev, Rector of the Karaganda Medical University Bakhyt Kosherova, Director of the Republican Center for Primary Health Care Olzhas Iskakov, and other heads of medical organizations in the capital.

The health and wellness complex is located in one of the capital's picturesque areas—on the banks of the Yesil River, in the Saranda cottage community.

This unique location allows vacationers and patients to enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the embankment and an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony, while remaining in the center of city life.
