The 10th Anniversary International Scientific and Practical Conference "Traditional Medicine in Modern Pharmacology"

On May 15, 2026, Shymkent hosts the 10th Anniversary International Scientific and Practical Conference "Traditional Medicine in Modern Pharmacology", which brought together leading scientists, experts and practitioners in the field of traditional, integrative and clinical medicine from Kazakhstan, Korea, Russia, Estonia, Georgia and other countries.

The conference discusses topical issues of integrating traditional medicine methods into the modern healthcare system, the development of an evidence base, the introduction of innovative approaches into medical practice, as well as prospects for interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of medical rehabilitation and pharmacology.

Sayagul Kairgeldina, Director of the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a report on "Traditional medicine in the medical rehabilitation system: the role and significance of sanatorium treatment."

In her speech, she noted the importance of traditional medicine as an important component of the modern medical rehabilitation system, emphasizing the role of sanatorium treatment in restoring public health, preventing chronic diseases and improving the quality of life. Special attention was paid to current trends in the development of the industry, the integration of traditional treatment methods with evidence-based medicine, as well as the prospects for the development of rehabilitation and spa medicine in Kazakhstan.

One of the key events of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation and collaboration between the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.

The document is aimed at developing partnerships in the field of scientific research, educational activities and the introduction of innovative approaches in the spa and rehabilitation sector. As part of the cooperation, the parties agreed to work together to develop the scientific foundations of medical and wellness tourism, develop scientifically sound methods for the therapeutic use of natural factors, expand international cooperation, introduce modern technologies into the sanatorium industry, exchange scientific information and experience, participate in scientific and clinical councils, and organize educational events and seminars., workshops, webinars, and professional development programs for industry professionals.

The Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues systematic work to develop international and interdepartmental cooperation, strengthen the scientific potential of the industry and promote modern approaches in the field of medical rehabilitation, balneology and traditional medicine.
