In the Year of Blue-Collar Professions, proclaimed by the Head of State in 2025, the stories of people like Askar Ualiev take on a special meaning. A bus driver at the branch of the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan – part of the “Burabay” Health and Wellness Complex – he is not just a professional with 43 years of experience, but a man whose daily work, seemingly routine at first glance, is a foundation for the sustainable and harmonious development of society. Askar Ualiev doesn’t just drive a bus – he lives his profession.
His connection with the institution began right after serving in the army in Germany, where he was a tank operator. In 1982, he took the driver’s seat of a bus at the Burabay Sanatorium and has remained faithful to his choice – both his profession and his workplace – ever since. This is not just dedication; it's a conscious decision of the heart.
Today, Askar is responsible for transporting employees and taking children from the children’s rehabilitation department on excursions – and he does it with a warmth that can't be measured by the kilometers of his routes. His bus is not just a vehicle; it’s a small island of care, where everyone feels safe.
“This is my home. I can’t live without work. I wake up in the morning and go to work like it’s a celebration. I’m especially happy when I drive our little patients – I always want everything to be good for them,” says Askar.
For his many years of dedicated work, he has been awarded the honorary title of “Veteran of Labor.” Despite his impressive experience, he remains energetic and committed to his job. He warmly recalls the colleagues he began his career with:
“I miss those I used to work shoulder to shoulder with. Many of them are no longer with us, but it’s nice to see how the younger generation continues our work.”
At the Research Institute of Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation, such employees are deeply valued. The institution provides not only opportunities for the professional growth of young specialists but also care and respect for labor veterans. They firmly believe that every employee, regardless of their position – whether a scientist, doctor, teacher, technical worker, or driver – plays an important role in their shared mission. Together, they form a single living organism working for the health of the nation.
Askar Ualiev’s story is more than just a chronicle of workdays. It is a vivid example of deep respect for one’s profession, sincere love for people, and remarkable resilience. People like him inspire new generations, proving the enduring value of honest work and true dedication to one’s calling.
